Just when you thought it was almost over, Overload says ‘HA! we have more to tempt you. More and more we have, yes’. It’s true Overload does speak like Gollum after a few whiskeys. On September 17th at The Workers’ Club, we have a very veritable line-up of poets, each selected for their charm, wit and ability to make us ‘ooooh’. Confirmed for the night and your utter pleasure are Andrea Thomas, Armand Petit, Ashley J. Higgs, Bronwyn Lovell, Santo Cazzati and Felix Nobis. Between them they have a combined poetic experience of 5,000 years. That’s a lot. And not a one of them a day over… let’s say 29. They also have backgrounds in music, drama, visual art and one of them may have been a UFC champion. Or that last bit may be a lie. (You made that up right Ashley?) This is the 10th Overload Poetry Festival and we’re going for style on our birthday. These particular poets have just the kind of style we love. Little jazz, a little swagger and a little something strange you can’t put your finger on because every time you try you get an ouch. Come sip a wine or an ale and let the words wind you around their little fingers. 5pm is where happy hour begins. Where it ends is up to you…
