Traditionally the measure of recognition of a poet was publishing a book. But nowadays, with the widespread appeal of performance in poetry, it’s accepted that the page simply doesn’t do justice to certain types of poetry. Some poets are as important to their poetry as are their words, so they pack their bags and go on tour, borrowing elements from theatre in themed solo performances.
This idea is slowly developing in Australia, with a handful of poets putting on shows during fringe festivals around the country. Overload needs to fill this gap and now, thanks to Writers’ Centre Norwich, offers a unique opportunity for you to help this form grow.
Join three of the UK’s finest: Hanna Walker, Tim Clare and Luke Wright, fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe and Melbourne Writers Festival in a skill share workshop where they will bring all their expertise in the field to Melbourne.
This workshop is open to 20 lucky people only, so be quick! Suits poets with performance inclinations and a body of work.
You can now register online via Trybooking. Please email registrations@overloadpoetry.org with any questions.
