Felix Nobis is a poet, playwright and actor. He holds an MA in Old and Middle English from University College Cork (Ireland), and has recently completed his PhD in Medieval Storytelling at Monash University, where he also teaches.
Felix is a two-time winner of the Australian Poetry Cup, and was awarded Best Feature in the 2008 Overload Poetry Festival. He has written a number of poetic monologues including Under an Open Minded Sky, in collaboration with musician Roger Alsop, as Poet in Residence for Hawthorn City Council, and Once Upon a Barstool, which toured Ireland, and enjoyed a seasons at La Mama in Melbourne, and a tour of regional Victoria. In 2007 Felix was an Affiliate Writer with Melbourne Theatre Company, and in 2010 was awarded the R. E. Ross Trust Script Development award for his verse play Boy out of the Country.
In 2000, Felix produced a translation of the 8th century epic Beowulf, which was published by Bradshaw Books in 2002, and which he toured as a one-person-show through Europe, America, and Australia. In 2007, the translation was adapted to radio, and broadcast on the ABC Radio National Poetica programme.
