Rebecca Louise

Rebecca Louise has performed as a feature poet at the Melbourne Fringe Festival, Monsalvat Poetry Festival, Overload Poetry Festival, the Heide Museum of Modern Art, Sydney Road Festival, Roarhouse (Winner of Best Performance, Fringe Festival, 2009) and the Northern Notes Writers Festival. She was co-ordinator of ‘Kitty Sessions’ a monthly poetry, spoken word and music event for women performers which ran from 2005 – 2008 in the Darebin area. Her zine: ‘Lush’ a collection of poems and short stories about loneliness, drinking, music and love was published by ‘LoveAnarchist Press’ and launched at the Emerging Writer’s Festival in 2009. She has been interviewed on radio (RRR and PBS) and has performed her poetry on television (Channel 31 and SBS). She is currently working with a musician, infusing her poetry with a blues and rock flavour. Her recent work is heavily influenced by cinema, pop music and icons from the 1950’s Hollywood era.
